A university strategic plan that reads like a piece of writing. A visual book and a website to give shape to the University of Parma's vision.

A strategic plan is usually born as a technical document, written for governing bodies and for compliance. It ends up on the shelf, read by few. The question we started from was how to overturn that habit: to turn the 2025–2030 Strategic Plan into a text the whole university community could read, understand and recognise as its own.
The University of Parma entrusted us with the visual and narrative communication of the Plan, from the printed document to the website. The aim was to hold together two demands that usually rule each other out. On one side the analytical rigour of a planning document covering six years of university life. On the other the force of an account able to speak to students, academics, staff, the local area and stakeholders. Six years of vision condensed into four missions, which had to stay readable without giving up their density.
Listening, attracting, welcoming, accompanying. Four words become the grammar of a strategy.
Visual book
We designed and laid out the Plan's book as a visual account. A clear graphic hierarchy guides the reading: strong headings, symbols that act as a compass, infographics and summaries that make even the most technical passages immediate.
The four words that set the rhythm of the strategy, listening, attracting, welcoming, accompanying, recur as narrative elements and hold the whole document together. The result is a text that keeps its value as an institutional act and at the same time carries the reader along, page after page.
The Plan also lives online, on a site designed for thematic and interactive consultation.
The University's four missions, Research, Teaching and student services, Society, People and resources, can be navigated one by one, with direct access to objectives, strategic actions and the links to the 2030 Agenda SDGs and to the national recovery plan.
